How can we protect young people from the dangers of the digital world? Certainly, the answer lies in education and prevention. For this reason, the first of two Citizenship Days took place in Cori, a key event for the growth of IC Chiominto students. This initiative, born from the collaboration between the school, the Local Municipality, and the Polygonal Association, addressed sensitive issues such as digital addiction and cyberbullying.
First of all, the event is the result of the vision of the School Principal, Prof. Virgilio Di Giorgi. Thanks to his determination, the institute adopted an “Anti-Bullying School Policy,” a strategic document to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
Experts and Institutions working together
The value of the day lay in the synergy between different local actors. In addition, the presence of the Local Administration, represented by Councilor Simonetta Imperia, underlined the importance of being responsible citizens online.
Key figures who guided the debate included:
- Angelo Bianchi: director of the short film “Web Roi,” a powerful metaphor for web pitfalls.
- Sara Di Matteo: from the “Ohana” Family Center, acting as a guide for a conscious educational path.
- Marco De Cave and Angelo Cioeta (Polygonal): with their expertise, they helped students “scroll away” the risks of hyperconnection, promoting a balanced use of technology.
Students: the true protagonists against bullying
However, the heart of the event was the students. From the fifth-grade classes in Cori to the middle schools in Giulianello, the youth participated with extraordinary performances. In fact, through role-plays in foreign languages, rap music, and classical pieces by the “S. Marchetti” Orchestra, a single strong message was sent: stop bullying.
In short, this first day laid the foundation for a true digital “instruction manual.” Therefore, Polygonal continues to support these initiatives, convinced that the courage to “be human” is the key to living in the digital world healthily.
