eMATES meeting Poland: New Tools for Migrant Digital Inclusion

How can we ease access to e-government services for adults with a migrant background? Certainly, the answer lies in tailored language training and dedicated tools. During the month of April, a fundamental milestone took place to achieve this goal. We are talking about the third eMATES meeting Poland, which successfully gathered all partners in Białystok.

First of all, the event was warmly hosted by the Białostockie Centrum Edukacji (BCE). In fact, all European partners met to review the progress of the educational manual. The main objective is making public e-services accessible to everyone through language education. The Piloting Results Across Partner Countries

The transnational gathering allowed the network to collect real data from the local piloting phase. Moreover, the statistics show great interest from both students and trainers on the ground.

The success of this testing phase emerges clearly from the national data:

  • BCE (Poland): Successfully involved 34 active participants across all proficiency levels.
  • DomSpain (Spain): Tested levels A1 and A2 working with 20 users.
  • Vardakeios School (Greece): Registered a total of 18 eager participants.
  • Polygonal (Italy): Trained 12 students focusing strictly on the basic A1 level.
  • Wisamar (Germany): Started testing with around 10 participants at B1 level.

However, developing these training materials required a much higher workload than initially expected. Nevertheless, the general feedback from learners and trainers remains highly positive across Europe.

The Online Language Lab and Technical Deadlines

In addition, the working sessions focused heavily on developing the e-learning platform (Online Language Lab). Printed study books will integrate audio files accessible via easy QR codes. Therefore, students can practice conveniently both in class and at home.

For this reason, Vardakeios School will soon define the software technical requirements. Partners will have until the end of July to create online self-assessment exercises. Every learning unit will also include useful links to local healthcare and state e-services.

Green Monitoring and Dissemination Actions

In conclusion, the meeting successfully defined the guidelines for future external communication. Surely, social media channels will soon feature short video Reels recorded during the event. The host partner BCE will also coordinate the new environmental plan (Green Monitoring) for the project.
