GreenVET Pathway: the sustainable future of vocational schools

How can vocational schools become leaders in the ecological transition? Certainly, the GreenVET Pathway project has shown that change is possible through concrete actions and European collaboration. With the release of the third newsletter in April 2026, the consortium celebrates the milestones achieved for greener education.

First of all, the heart of the project is the new GreenVET Online Path. This is a digital platform that collects the best sustainability practices from across Europe. If you want to explore these resources, visit the official project website.

Best practices for greener schools

Inside the portal, teachers and students can find inspiration in real-world examples. In fact, sustainability is no longer just a theory; it transforms into:

  • Green infrastructure: rooftop gardens and energy-saving systems in institutes.
  • Circular economy: trayless school canteens and food donation programs.
  • Active teaching: downloadable interactive cards to support school leaders in ecological planning.

However, the project is not limited to the digital world. In addition, the international dimension has been fundamental. A key moment was the transnational meeting hosted by Polygonal in Cori in May 2025, where partners defined final strategies.

From theory to action: the Final Conference

In short, the journey concluded with a major online conference on March 20th, 2026. During the event, a vast “Community of Practice” was presented, uniting schools from Slovenia to Germany, as well as Italy and Greece. Currently, these institutes are translating environmental values into daily routines within their workshops.

Certainly, the project motto is clear: “One school, one idea, one step at a time.” Therefore, Polygonal will continue to monitor the impact of GreenVET Pathway, ensuring that the legacy of these resources helps future generations build a more sustainable world.
