CyberMe at Linux Day Latina 2026: Cybersecurity Opportunities for Girls

On 17 October 2026, APS Polygonal participated in Linux Day Latina 2026, presenting CyberMe, a European Erasmus+ project dedicated to helping girls develop cybersecurity skills and explore new opportunities in the digital sector. The event also provided an opportunity to introduce the project’s next international online camp, planned for February 2027.

The event took place at thespaze Coworking, Via Adua 46/48/50 in Latina, bringing together technology enthusiasts, professionals and local organisations interested in Open Source, digital innovation and knowledge sharing.

Linux Day Latina 2026: Open Source and Digital Skills

Linux Day Latina 2026 was held as part of Hack the Brain Drain – Talenti locali, opportunità globali, an event within the Nova Days programme organised by Exo Latina, Latina In Tech and Linux Users Group Latina.

The afternoon was dedicated to Linux, Open Source technologies and the exchange of technical knowledge. Talks and discussions offered participants an opportunity to connect with the local technology community and explore different aspects of digital innovation.

For Polygonal, the event was an opportunity to introduce CyberMe to people interested in technology and digital education, while highlighting the importance of making cybersecurity skills more accessible.

CyberMe: Helping Girls Explore Cybersecurity

CyberMe is a European project designed to encourage girls to explore cybersecurity through practical learning, teamwork and interactive digital challenges.

The project aims to strengthen technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities and confidence, while raising awareness of the educational and professional opportunities available in cybersecurity.

Rather than focusing exclusively on theoretical knowledge, CyberMe promotes a hands-on approach that allows participants to experiment with digital tools, work together and tackle real-world cybersecurity challenges.

During Linux Day Latina, we shared the project’s objectives, presented its educational approach and introduced the upcoming activities, including the second international online camp.

CyberMe Online Camp: Three Days of Cybersecurity Challenges in February 2027

The second CyberMe online camp, planned for February 2027, will bring together participants from the project’s partner countries, primarily girls who attended the first international camp.

The programme will take place over three days of online activities, combining guided learning sessions, practical exercises on the CyberMe platform and a final team-based competition.

A central part of the camp will focus on Capture the Flag (CTF) challenges. These are interactive cybersecurity exercises in which participants solve problems, uncover hidden information and complete digital security missions.

The activities will follow a progressive learning structure, with beginner and intermediate challenges supported by trainers from the project’s partner organisations.

Through teamwork and practical exercises, participants will have the opportunity to strengthen their cybersecurity knowledge, improve their problem-solving skills and learn alongside peers from different European countries.

The final dates and detailed programme will be announced once the organisational arrangements have been confirmed.

How to Join the CyberMe Online Camp

Girls who did not participate in the first CyberMe camp can also express their interest in joining the February 2027 online activities.

Requests will be considered according to the number of available places and the organisational arrangements of the project. Expressing interest does not automatically guarantee participation.

Our participation in Linux Day Latina 2026 helped us share these opportunities with the local technology community and introduce more people to CyberMe’s educational activities.

By connecting European training initiatives with local events, Polygonal continues to support opportunities for girls to discover cybersecurity, develop digital skills and explore new career paths.
