Five days in the Czech Republic, combining mountains, parks, field activities and new ideas to bring back to school.
This Erasmus+ in the Czech Republic experience is designed for teachers who want to explore a more practical and engaging approach to environmental and STEAM education: observing the environment, using measuring tools, collecting data and turning the experience into classroom activities.

The activity will take place from 9 to 13 November, combining outdoor activities, practical exercises, instruments and opportunities for professional exchange.
What will we do during Erasmus+ in the Czech Republic?
The programme is designed around learning through direct experience.
Monday, 9 November will be dedicated to arrival, hotel accommodation and an informal opportunity to meet the group.
On Tuesday, 10 November, field activities will begin with a mountain excursion. Participants will use instruments during both the journey up and the return. Lunch is planned at a restaurant at the top.
On Wednesday, 11 November, activities will continue in the city and surrounding parks. Instruments will again be used during the practical sessions.
Later in the day, the group will move to another location for an overnight stay. A welcome dinner offered by the organisers is planned for the evening.
Thursday, 12 November will be dedicated to a full day of practical activities. Instruments will be used throughout the day, followed by a project meeting in the evening.
On Friday, 13 November, the final morning activities will take place before travelling towards Prague Airport.
A practical experience to take back to school
This experience is not only about learning how to use new tools.
The aim is to show how the environment itself can become a learning space.
Teachers will observe the surroundings, collect information, use measuring instruments and work with data.
This makes science, technology and sustainability part of a real and practical learning experience.
The activities tested during the week can later be adapted for use with students back at school.
Environment, data and STEAM education
One of the key elements of the experience is the connection between environmental observation and data.
Teachers will work with tools that help collect information from the surrounding environment and understand how to interpret it.
This approach connects real places with classroom learning and makes scientific topics more concrete and easier to understand.
STEAM education combines science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics through real problems and practical experiences.
How is the journey organised?
The main airport is Prague.
From the airport, participants can use public transport to reach the departure point for long-distance buses. The suggested route includes BUS 100 to Zličín, followed by the metro to Černý Most. RegioJet and FlixBus services then continue towards the final destination.
Participants are advised to book the bus in advance, especially during peak hours, as some services may sell out.
Participants will also travel with an APS Polygonal staff member, who will support the group with practical, logistical and organisational aspects throughout the trip.
This means participants will have a direct point of reference for:
- travel arrangements;
- transfers;
- accommodation;
- group coordination;
- practical information;
- any organisational needs during the mobility.
Participants will stay in a hotel during the first part of the mobility.
Later in the week, the group will move to Hejnice, where accommodation is planned at Klášter Hejnice.
What information is needed before travelling?
Before departure, each participant will need to provide some practical information.
This includes:
- the name of the participant;
- accommodation details;
- any dietary requirements;
- instruments needed for the lesson plan;
- travel arrangements;
- any additional useful information.

About Green STEAM
The experience is part of Green STEAM: Environmental Literacy & Climate Change in Vulnerable Areas, an Erasmus+ project focused on environmental literacy and STEAM education.
The project helps students and teachers understand environmental change through direct observation, data collection and analysis, digital tools and outdoor learning.
The experience in the Czech Republic is therefore an opportunity to test these approaches in the field and later adapt them for use in schools.
